I think self-hosted social networks are more appropriate for the distributed, dynamic, ad-hoc nature of post-modernist organizations... :) (wishful thinking... how many of those actually exist?)

I have high expectation for oStatus and StatusNet, nice alternative to Yammer, which we used in my previous company.
